It has been quite a year!
It has been a year since our last post but so much great rowing fun has been had! Of course just before Christmas was the annual Carrow Cup and and club get together "rum rations." As always, Broadland manages to bring together a spectacular feast of festive food and drink to warm us up on a chilly winter day. Much fun is had with the festive outfits and wins for the best dressed!
The club struggled with a few episodes of flooding at the start of the year but then the weather eventually turned and Regatta season began. Broadland took part in several regattas across the country; Peterborough, St Ives and a couple of members even competed (successfully!) at Henley...well done chaps!
This also meant lots of opportunities to make up composite crews with our neighbours at the Yare Boat Club. Lots of crew options and of course, double the picnic!!
Having welcomed some new members this year, a sunny August evening provided the perfect time for a club BBQ, after which many members had been out for a recreational outing. We do row as well as eat, honestly!
It is a year since a few members went out to Switzerland for the Bilac rowing event and this year was the turn of Kim and Meret to visit us and take part in the Boston Marathon. They formed part of a Broadland mixed 4x and they completed it in an admirable 3 hours 50....all 50k making it the longest rowing race in the UK. They achieved 6th position overall, brilliant!
Phew! Watch this space for more Broadland news...
